Please note that items that are not electric, are built in and/or are part of other/future programs and therefore not in Schedule 3, 2.2 (a) are excluded from the program. Electric toys, power tools, major appliances, industrial/commercial appliances, sewing machines…etc. are part of Phase V of the BC Recycling Regulation.
Kitchen Countertop Appliances
- Restaurant, Commercial and Institutional Cooking Appliances performing the same functions (I.e. Bar or Restaurant Drink Mixers)
- Appliances not powered by electricity or batteries
- Large appliances (I.e. ice crusher, refrigerator, countertop dishwashers)
- Mini fridges, home wine bars, wine chillers, portable ice makers or any items that contain refrigerants
- Restaurant, commercial and institutional cooking appliances
- Commercial popcorn makers
- Thermometers of any kind
- Products included in Phase V: Built-in or over the range microwaves
Time Measurement Appliances
- Time instruments that are part of a product with another function (e.g. clock as part of a clock radio or a timer on a slow cooker). Note that clocks that are part of products with another primary function (such as clock radios or cell phones) may be included in other stewardship programs. If they are part of a product included in this program, the product would fall under the category based on its primary purpose (e.g. a countertop microwave with a clock will fall under the Countertop Microwaves category).
- Wind‐up clocks and appliances not powered by electricity or batteries
- Grandfather clocks
- Time measurement devices that are not a small household appliance such as those intended to be held in a pocket or worn on a person's body (e.g. wrist watches)
Weight Measurement Appliances
- Mechanical scales that are not electric powered
- Doctor's scales, baby scales
- Laboratory, commercial or industrial scales
Garment Care Appliances
- Industrial or commercial ironing appliances
- Appliances not powered by electricity or batteries
- Mangles used in ironing bedding materials in commercial establishments
Air Treatment Appliances
- Air treatment devices designed for commercial or industrial use
- Built in fans such as ceiling fans, kitchen fans, range hoods or bathroom fans, house HVAC systems
- Heat exchangers
- Dehumidifiers
- Products included in Phase V: Room Air Conditioners, Portable Air Conditioners (due to refrigerants in them), air treatment products attached to the furnace or central air conditioning system
- Portable heaters or fireplaces using 240 V that are wired in
- Pest/insect repellers/repellents
Floor Care Appliances - Large Size
- Ride‐on or large scale vacuums used in industrial or commercial centres for floor care, floor scrubbing or sealing
- Appliances not powered by electricity or batteries
- Products included in Phase V: Central vacuum cleaner systems that are part of the home structure, including both central power units and piping/wiring
Personal Care Appliances
- Commercial and institutional appliances performing the same functions as floor supported commercial hair drying equipment
- Appliances not powered by electricity or batteries
- Jewellery cleaners
- Mattress pads, heating pads, electric blankets
